The best way to learn something is to do it yourself and then teach someone else. I'm having the most fun when I'm learning something new, building something using what I've learned, and then teaching or writing about it.

I teach about AI, digital electronics, embedded systems, and optics at Harvey Mudd in addition to directing the Laboratory for Imaginative Prototyping with AI and the Biophotonics Lab.

A few years ago I started writing The Absent-Minded Professor. What started as a small weekly public journal has grown into a weekly essay where I follow my curiosity and share something I'm thinking about.

Normally I wait for the muse to strike or for an idea to get so stuck in my mind that the only way to get it out is to write about it. While I am writing a lot about AI, technology, and education, the only real overarching theme is my interest.
